What does Home mean in a world beset by climate change? Where the weather seems evermore unpredictable and often violent?

This question took on a deeply personal meaning for me as a disturbing trend became clear: My long-time home, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, are being broken up by sea level rise and strengthening storms. In 2018, alarmed by the changes we were seeing, we said goodbye to our beloved community and friends there and moved to the midcoast of Maine.

My books, essays, and blog entries explore questions about how the landscapes and places where we spend our lives help shape who we are. Our relocation to Maine as climate change migrants has given those questions more depth, and more urgency.
